25 Weeks and Happy Valentines Day!

What a week! Just can't believe all this snow!!! We got over 2 feet of snow and poor Kris had to keep shoveling the driveway. Here are some pictures of the 2-9-10 snow. Click HERE for pictures of the snow storm!Ok...onto baby updates:
Kris did get lots of time to work on the nursery due to all this crazy snow. :) He got the entire room painted! The two colors are amazing! He painted and should finish putting up the new door and window frames by the end of the weekend! Click HERE for pictures of the nursery development. We are up to Phase 6 on the pictures.
While Kris was working on the nursery, I was busy cleaning...cleaning...and more cleaning! Oh yeah...and baking yummy treats. :)
We got our first gift from our baby registry this week from the Babcock's! It was our cradle swing. After we opened the shipping box, the swing sat in the middle of our living room....and we just stared at it. We both were just amazed that we are getting gear for the baby....that we are having a baby! OMGosh! ...the box is still sitting in the middle of the room, and after dinner every night we go in there and just stare at it! :)
Due to the snow, our 24 week check up with our OB was postponed to Thursday. Thursday morning, our OB called and cancelled our appointment. Then around noon, they called to tell us they were open...so we headed out there for our appointment. The first thing they did was weigh me. 153. I started at 115....this means I've gained 38 pounds in the first two trimesters. Oh my gosh... I'm not eating that badly. I have a moderate treat every day, but I make sure I've got all the good stuff first. At first I thought it was funny because I've always been such a stick...but then I got really upset about it. Kris said lots of sweet things and I talked to Alli and I am starting to feel better about it. I am going to cut down on my Sprite intake (was drinking 2-3 cans a day! :) ) and canned fruit (has lots of sugar). Anyway, then we headed off to the room with the doctor and had a good appointment. Our little girl is doing great. Her heart beat was 132 and our doctor was happy with where I was. They gave me the Glucola drink-I got the fruit punch flavor-so I'll have my GLUCOSE TEST at my next appointment.
I read on a website that Kris might be able to hear her heartbeat if he puts his ear on my belly...so we gave it a try. He couldn't really tell what he was hearing...but he did get to see something neat! She was moving/kicking/punching a bunch and he saw one of those movements right above his head when he was listening! She almost kicked him in the head! :) HA HA HA! It was really exciting! Since then, I've been feeling her very regularly and she's getting really strong! I finally felt her hiccups! How cute!
I had another emotional breakdown on Saturday. Have you ever seen the Modern Family episode where Phil gets a new TV system and Claire can't figure out how to use the remote control? Well...that was me. I've always struggled with Kris' fancy system...though I have mastered turning on and watching TV. I finished on the treadmill and wanted to try a Pilates DVD Alli lent me...so I put it in the DVD player. It wouldn't work. Of course, Kris was not home....so I called him. We got it to play, but then I couldn't select chapters (I didn't want to watch the whole thing). I got so frustrated, I gave up and worked myself into quite the temper. I got a headache from all the blood rushing to my head so I had to take a nap. This picture describes how I was feeling! Posted by Jen at 6:11 PM 0 comments

What?! There are nice Waldorfians?! :)
Today I ventured out of the house to go to the grocery store. We had gone last night but they were out of eggs, celery and bananas...so I went to a different grocery store. I got all my items and got in the massive lines. I knew it was going to be a wait, so I was prepared to be patient. I started to notice this woman in the next line over...she kept staring at me. I didn't recognize her, so I tried to ignore her. Then she got my attention and invited me to get in line ahead of her! I couldn't believe it...she was next in line, and I was still 3 people (LARGE shopping cartloads) back. I told her I was ok and thanked her. She pressed saying you're pregnant...you shouldn't have to be on your feet like this. Sooooo sweet. Seriously....I thanked her profusely and declined (because I didn't want to anger the people behind her and I was feeling alright). But...I was just truly touched that she made such a kind gesture to me!
To my fellow Waldorfians, my faith in you has...well...not really been restored or renewed-mostly just pleasantly elevated! To all those good Waldorfians out there: Keep on Keepin on...let's all hope for more kind people like that woman at the store. Sometimes it's scary to extend a helping hand for fear of it being bitten....but try anyway! Oh yeah....and to the snow plow man that took 3 days to get to us and then piled FEET of snow in front of our mailbox so now our mail has to be delivered to our neighbors-#$%)(#$ you. Love your neighbor everyone!

24 Weeks
A non-baby update: I start volunteering at WORLD HOPE INTERNATIONAL this coming Friday! I'm so excited! This is an amazing organization and am looking forward to helping out with office work! I actually love organzing and data entry (honestly...). It's kinda' sick how excited I get about filing things and making name tags....After our little one arrives and I feel comfortable, I can even bring her to the office so I can continue volunteering. I'm pretty stoked. I've always wanted to get involved with community service like this...and am looking forward to teaching our daughter about volunteering her time. :)
I've been doing a bit more with Oreo's ongoing training. He's doing great with people and kids...so I'm just working on little things. When we get home and open the door, he normally gets so excited he starts barking and jumping up and down. Well...as cute and welcoming as that is...I can imagine that not being very cute and welcoming if we are carrying a sleeping baby. :) So...I've been working on training him not to bark when we come home. (Knock on wood), it's been almost a week bark free. Also...when I come downstairs for the first time in the morning I had to disengage the alarm system. He gets really excited and starts barking....well, again: not so good with a sleeping baby. SO...we are on day 3 of not barking when I turn the alarm off. It's really encouraging that he is so quick to learn! He's a wonderful dog. If any of you have an unruly dog and need a good trainer, I highly recommend BARK BUSTERS. They are a little pricey....but WELL worth it! Bark Busters is a national chain, so you can find one in your area. :) If you are in the DC area: David Sundland is our trainer and he's AWESOME! :)
Newest cravings (which have not lasted long): Doritos, CRUNCHY peanut butter sammies or on Ritz crackers, Sprite, and almond snickers bar (frozen in the freezer of course).
Here's some week 24 Belly pictures...
